eMudhra to withdraw from global SSL/TLS certificate business after key vulnerabilities
eMudhra announced it will voluntarily exit the global SSL/TLS certificate market after a researcher recovered private keys for eight of its intermediate CA certificates. The company will replace affected customers' certificates with free ones from partners and cited rising compliance costs and declining returns, noting the business accounted for about 1% of its revenue. The board made the decision on Thursday.
Why it matters: Security professionals must reassess trust in certificates issued by eMudhra and plan migrations to alternative providers.
