OpenAI launches GPT-6.1 Terra, a mid‑range model with half‑price API and faster agents

OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra, a mid‑range model that costs about 50% less than its predecessor and is priced at a tenth of the Astra model. The new model is marketed for computer use, visual reasoning, coding and everyday work, and offers roughly three times faster AI agents. It replaces the earlier GPT-5.6 Terra and sits between the Sol/Astra and Luna models in OpenAI’s lineup.
Why it matters: The lower cost and higher speed make it a more economical choice for developers building office‑automation and AI‑driven computer‑control applications.
