US DHS orders removal of Chinese DeepSeek AI from federal civilian agencies

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has directed all federal civilian agencies to stop using and to remove DeepSeek products and any third‑party services built on its technology. The ban cites national security concerns, including potential transfer of sensitive data to the PRC. Agencies must also cease acquisition of DeepSeek models and related services.
Why it matters: Compliance teams must audit and replace any DeepSeek AI components to avoid security risks and regulatory penalties.
