eMudhra exits certificate business after private key flaw

Bengaluru-based eMudhra announced it will withdraw from the certificate business following a security incident in which a private key was found to be the number four instead of a random 384‑bit value. The flaw was highlighted by cybersecurity researcher Scott Helme in a blog post. The company said the issue has triggered distrust in its services.
Why it matters: Certificate authority failures can undermine the security of digital communications that tech professionals rely on.
