EA to shut down BioWare and cut ~400 jobs, cancel next Mass Effect

Electronic Arts will close BioWare, the studio behind Mass Effect and Dragon Age, and cut about 400 jobs, roughly 3% of its staff. The next Mass Effect game and a planned Sims project are cancelled. EA went private in a $55 billion buyout in August.
Why it matters: The closure eliminates a major RPG developer and reduces EA's development capacity, affecting future game pipelines.
